Warning: The following contains spoilers for chapter 1113 of One Piece, “Stalemate” by Eiichiro Oda, translated by Stephen Paul, and lettered by Vanessa Satone, now available in English from MangaPlus.
One Piece chapter 1113 dropped earlier today and this chapter was absolutely massive in terms of what it delivered. While there were no major fights in this chapter, the hype was all about Vegapunk’s message, and that is what fans have been waiting for weeks now.
One Piece chapter 1113 did not deliver the entire message to the fans, however, the gist of the message was delivered in a single sentence from the smartest minded the entire world that left both the people of the One Piece world, as well as the fans shocked. All that happened in a chaotic scenario on Egghead Island, and fans certainly have a lot to dissect in this week’s chapter.
The Transponder Snail Fake-Out
Vegapunk Managed To Fake Mars With His Trick
One of the things that most fans expected in One Piece chapter 1113 was a transponder snail fake-out. Fans knew that Marcus Mars found the transponder snail that was supposedly carrying Vegapunk’s message and transmitting it to all the world. However, this turned out to be a fake-out. This wasn’t much of a surprise to the fans, given that they knew that Vegapunk’s message would have to come out at some point in this arc. The Five Elders, despite their strength, would fail at stopping the message and for this reason, fans weren’t too worried about Marcus Mars being near the transponder snail. In the last chapter, Mars was stopped in his path while trying to stomp on the transponder snail, and in this week’s chapter, it was revealed that the reason for it was Vegapunk’s brain, which a lot of the fans had predicted already.
Not only does he hide it, but he fools us with decoys. Curse you, Vegapunk!
Regardless, Mars went ahead and stomped on the transponder snail, only to realize that this was a fake. It was quite clear to the fans already that this transponder snail was not going to be the real one. Mars started to panic and the Gorosei admitted their defeat, realizing that transmission would not be stopped, no matter what. This gave Vegapunk the freedom to deliver this message no matter what, and it was certainly a massive slap in the face to the members of the World Government. At the end of this chapter, the message officially began, and none of the Elders were able to do anything about it. Of course, they are still looking for the transponder snail which is nowhere to be found as of yet, and in fact, this transponder snail might actually be in possession of someone rather obvious, such as Vega Punk himself.
The World Holds Its Breath
The Entire World Listened To Vegapunk’s Message
One Piece chapter 1113 also managed to show events from all over the world. As the time for the message was being counted down, Oda showcased people making their preparations for it to be released. In the East Blue, fans got to see Kaya preparing for the message, along with Usopp Pirates. At the same time, fans also got a look at other individuals around the world, such as Crocus, who was preparing for the message in his own way, the people from Baldimore using a video transponder snail to witness these events, the people from Torino Kingdom, along with many others all holding their breath to see what Vegapunk has to say.
Right now, the entire world has tuned into this message, including the likes of the Germa Kingdom, World Economy Journal, and just about every country in the world that has access to a transponder snail. The World Government cannot stop this broadcast, no matter what, and this is going to be a massive defeat for them. No matter how strong they are, they cannot stop the power of Vegapunk’s mind, and that is what is going to be the beginning of their downfall and the One Piece world.
While all this was going on around the world, the Straw Hats also faced quite a situation on Egghead. For instance, Bonney was almost executed by V. Nusjuro, only for Sanji to miraculously step in, stop his sword with his leg, and kick him in the chin, setting his head on fire. He successfully pulled off an impressive rescue of Bonney, even though he was bitten after, but knowing Sanji, this should not be an issue for him.
Meanwhile, on the Labophase, Saturn decided to go for Nico Robin, only for the Straw Hat Pirates to do their part and protect Robin from him. Things are going to be incredibly exciting in the upcoming chapters, as Zoro and Jinbe arrive there, and the ship prepares for the escape.
Vegapunk’s Message Is Revealed
Vegapunk Reveals The True Danger To The World
Finally, the biggest part of One Piece 1113 came towards the end, when Vegapunk’s message was revealed. He began his message by saying that he has committed two grave sins. What exactly these sins were, he did not reveal. He also said that the world should not assume that whoever strikes him down is evil. He does not know who is going to be the one striking him down, and he does not want to argue right and wrong or morality in the first place in the message.
To make a long story short, the world, as we know it, will sink into the sea!
The gist of his message was something completely unrelated, and towards the end of the chapter, he got to the point right away. Vegapunk mentioned that the world of One Piece is going to sink. This is absolutely massive in many ways, and this is something that the people of the world will accept, since it’s coming from the greatest mind.
Vegapunk’s message has just started, and there is certainly a lot more context left. This message is far from over, and in the upcoming chapters, fans should brace themselves for Vegapunk revealing more information pertaining to how the world will sink, and how he got to this conclusion in the first place. Vegapunk also intends to finish off what Ohara started, so fans should fully expect the name of the Ancient Kingdom to be dropped at some point later down the line as well.
Perhaps, that name will be linked to the previous giant mass of land that sank under the oceans of the world, and that might just be how it disappeared in the first place. There are many questions in the heads of the fans right now, and, unfortunately, they will have to wait to find out the answers because One Piece is going to be on break next week. However, once the series returns, the message will most likely wrap up, and from there onwards, the Egghead Island arc will likely conclude within five or six chapters, at most. There isn’t long left in this arc now, and fans should fully embrace themselves for the conclusion.
