Brock Purdy will be going to the Super Bowl after his team edged out the Detroit Lions.

With the win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game, Brock Purdy has successfully put a part of his criticism to bed. He has become the new favorite of a set of analysts and Ryan Clark is one of them. Clark, who did not think highly of Purdy earlier, has now changed his opinion.

In the latest episode of the show Get Up, Clark made a significant distinction between Purdy and the likes of Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert.

Ryan Clark said:

When you look at what Brock Purdy was able to do — Brock Purdy has separated himself from Dak Prescott. Brock Purdy has separated himself from Tua Tagovailoa. Brock Purdy has separated himself from guys like Kirk Cousins and from guys like Justin Herbert. He was asked in the most pressurized moment to be the best he could possibly be. And you know what magnifying glasses do, right?

Ryan Clark said on Get Up

Purdy indeed showed tremendous tenacity under pressure. In the games against the Green Bay Packers and the Lions, he was not at his usual best. But when it came to providing at the right moment, he delivered. The example of Purdy throwing at Brandon Aiyuk could be cited here. He had a deep throw towards Aiyuk that resulted in a touchdown. It later proved to be a decisive one as the team won the game and the Championship.

Purdy’s effort puts him in contrast to Dak Prescott who had a tremendous regular season. He was the leading passing TD holder. However, when it came to the postseason, Prescott choked and threw two interceptions that resulted in disappointment. He failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and the analysts.

Brock Purdy surpassed Lamar Jackson, believes Ryan Clark

In his argument, the analyst put Purdy forward over Lamar Jackson. He said that Jackson was expected to provide the same result. However, he failed. Against the Chiefs, Jackson had a difficult time.

Here is what Ryan Clark said:

When they were looking for Brock Purdy’s imperfections, they got closer to him. Brock Purdy became more of himself. He used his legs. He played above the Xs and Os. Brock Purdy, in my opinion, if I’m looking at those two games (Sunday), Brock Purdy did what we would’ve expected Lamar Jackson to do.

However, Purdy would not be happy with the performance that he provided in the postseason. It did not come close to the level that he usually delivers. The quarterback would like to turn the table against the second-best defense in the league in the Super Bowl on the 11th of February.
