Morgan Wallen is breaking his silence more than a week after he was arrested in Nashville for allegedly throwing a chair from a downtown rooftop.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday night. “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.”

In a second post, Wallen’s statement continued: “I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change.”

Wallen, 30, was booked into jail on April 8 on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct in connection to a Sunday night incident, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained, on April 7 at 10:53 p.m. local time, two police officers were positioned in front of Chief’s Bar in the city’s entertainment district on Lower Broadway. They observed a chair falling from above and striking the street approximately three feet from where they were standing.

In the affidavit, police detailed that staff members of the bar informed officers that Wallen had thrown the chair. Upon reviewing video footage of the incident, authorities observed Wallen “lunging and throwing an object off the roof.” Subsequently, police arrested Wallen on charges of reckless endangerment due to the presence of two officers in the area and the potential danger posed to the public.

No injuries were reported in the incident at Chief’s Bar, which is owned by country music singer Eric Church. Wallen was booked into jail at 12:36 a.m. local time, as indicated by online records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently released around 3:30 a.m. after posting a $15,250 bond, as confirmed by a court official previously to USA TODAY.

Online court records reviewed  on April 8 showed Wallen is due in court next month for a settlement hearing on the charge.

Wallen kick started his career as a contestant on “The Voice” in 2014. Though he didn’t win, he signed with Big Loud Records two years later. Wallen’s career has had its ups and downs since his debut studio album, “If I Know Me,” released in 2018.

In early 2020, he was arrested in Nashville on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. After he was filmed drunkenly using a racial slur (an incident he apologized for), Wallen’s record label and agency dropped him, and he later revealed he’d checked into a rehab facility for a month.

Wallen’s most recent album “One Thing at a Time” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced the Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Last Night.”

Police said Wallen got kicked out of Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse at about 11 p.m. for “kicking glass items.” On the street, police said, he got into verbal fights with passersby while officers watched.

“Officers gave (Wallen) several opportunities to walk away with his friends, but he refused to walk away,” Wallen’s arrest warrant states.

Police arrested him, saying he was “a danger to himself and the public.”

Wallen, 27, responded to the chre horse-playing with each other,” he said on Twitter.

“We didn’t mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected,” he said on Twitter. “Thank you to the local authorities for being so professional and doing their job with class.”

Wallen is scheduled to face the misdemeanor charges in court in July.

The singer is known for hits like “Whiskey Glasses” and “Chasin’ You.” He was a contestant on “The Voice” in 2014.
