Netflix’s Murder Mystery: Adam Sandler is funny and everyone is obsessed with Jennifer Aniston’s wedges

The reviews are in and it seems Adam Sandler is funny as heck and everyone is obsessed with Jennifer Aniston’s wedges in Murder Mystery.

The Netflix flick was released today and the punters are slowly trickling their thoughts onto the internet.

For a movie that many had low expectations for – unfortunately the once comedic Sandler is now more often the punch line – the movie has surprised many.

The film centres on couple Audrey (Aniston) and Nick Spitz (Sandler), who head off on holiday on a swanky yacht, only for fellow holidaymaker Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp) to be stabbed to death. With the billionaire murdered, fingers begin to be pointed, and the pair become aware they’re in the frame.

Oh, also, Nick is a New York City Cop, while Audrey has a love for murdery mystery books. Which is where we lay our scene.

Going by early reports, critics may have been left wanting more from the 2019 update on the classic Cluedo-esque whodunnit but fans are getting some giggles.

And apparently Aniston rocks a mean pair of wedges.

While Amy Nicholson of Variety called the film ‘shamelessly gaudy’ but praised Aniston for her turn as the bored and idealistic housewife wanting more than a $50 voucher for her wedding anniversary, Benjamin Lee’s Guardian take described the movie ‘a surprisingly nimble summer comedy that finds both Aniston and Sandler at their most charming’.

The Hollywood Reporter’s John DeFore simply called it ‘Murder on the Bore-ient Express’. Ouch.

And even though it’s currently cruising with a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes it seems the fans are merely picking it up for a summer comedy and nothing more.

Which is what we need, right?

‘I have not laughed so hard in very long time..this movie is great!’ one very enthusiastic punter wrote on Twitter.

Another issued a challenge for us as they chimed in: ‘Y’all better go watch murder mystery on netflix!! the cast is phenomenal & the comedic timing is genius. it’s such a funny, light movie with a fun extra twist. [sic].’

Some fans weren’t sure what they’d just watched and whether they liked it…yet.

‘It is only my worship of all things #jenniferaniston and #lukeevans that caused me to reluctantantly turned on #MurderMystery #netflix last night,’ one sort-of-maybe fan said. ‘I actually kind of liked it? Still unsure.’

‘Even though the movie is a bit cliché and ordinary, it is actually entertaining and funny,’ the probably not president of Sandler’s fan club wrote. ‘Jennifer Aniston, Luke Evans, & Gemma Arterton are [love heart emojis].’
