Jack Reacher won’t be working alone in season three of Reacher.
The Prime Video series – one of the biggest shows on the Amazon platform – will feature the return of Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, Reacher’s (Alan Ritchson) former military colleague, in its third season.
Prime Video renewed Reacher for a third season before its season two premiere in December and is in production on the next set of episodes.
Prime Video also revealed Wednesday that season three will be based on Persuader, the seventh of author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels (which currently No. 28).
The season will find Reacher going undercover to rescue an informant being held by someone from Reacher’s past. Neagley doesn’t appear in the book, so her presence in the series will diverge from the text.
Reacher’s second season has posted big streaming numbers for Prime Video. The season premiered to nearly 1.7 billion minutes of viewing in December, according to Nielsen, and followed that with another billion-minute week. It was the top original series in Nielsen’s rankings both weeks.
Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios produce Reacher.
Showrunner Nick Santora is executive producing season three along with Child, Ritchson, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell.
