With the 2024 NFL draft in the books, teams are now trying to build rosters before training camp and the Denver Broncos are just one of many making moves.

The Denver Broncos reportedly signed a total of 13 players as undrafted rookies over the weekend, and they became official on Monday. One of them stood out from the rest.

Wide receiver B.J. West of Alabama State was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent a few days after the NFL Draft concluded. After several years at Alabama State University, BJ West was signed. While it can be challenging for players from smaller universities, like Alabama State, to break into the league, their statistical contributions are frequently undeniable.

This was not the case for West, as he spent six years with Alabama State and produced absolutely nothing in value.

Not only that, the Denver Broncos signed a guy making history as he tied Tony Jones for the lightest player in league history. West is 5-foot-8 and 142 pounds.

Jack “Soupy” Shapiro (5-foot-1, 119 pounds) is considered the lightest pre-merger NFL player ever, according to Ryan Michael, a BCT Statistician for the Denver Broncos Flagship.

Though it is difficult to understand what this youngster achieved to get a deal with those kinds of stats, as well as his tiny stature,  the Denver Broncos may have a plan. Based on the best estimate, it is anticipated that West will be tested as part of the league’s new kickoff regulation.

The Denver Broncos could have their new tiny player making moves with the new XFL kickoff. If it works out, they are geniuses. If not, they can send him to the practice squad.

The last time the Broncos made the playoffs, they won Super Bowl 50 and sent Peyton Manning riding off into the sunset.

The franchise has not sniffed the postseason ever since. In fact, the team only has one season where they finished above .500, which was the following season after the Super Bowl victory.
