Jennifer Lawrence has finally spoken out about that nude photo scandal and her response (naturally) does all women proud.
First things first, if you were expecting her to issue some sort of apology for (gasp!) being naked, she’s here to set the record straight:
“I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for,” she recently told Vanity Fair
“I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years.”
Furthermore, she’s sick of the whole argument that when you’re in the public eye, you somehow immediately forfeit your right to privacy upon entering the celeb stratosphere.
“It’s my body and it should be my choice [to show it],” she adds. “And the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting.”
She’s also floored by some of the reactions to the photo leak
“Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it [is] so beyond me,” she says. “I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.”
And if you think that there was nothing wrong with your own late-night Googlings of “Jennifer Lawrence Nude Pics,” she’s got a bone to pick with you:
“Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re committing a sexual offense,” she continues. “You should cower with shame.”
Unlike actresses like Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus, who felt compelled to profusely apologize after their nude photos were leaked, Lawrence will have none of that. ln typical JLaw style, she tells it like it is:
“It is not a sex crime. It is a sexual violation,” she says.
“It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this.”
The actress was just one of many female celebs whose phone was hacked last month and photos posted to online forums like 4Chan and Reddit. You can read her full interview in the upcoming November issue of Vanity Fair.
