Deion Sanders mocked on ‘SNL’ after he was ‘truly disturbed’ by Colorado loss

Friday night was not kind to Deion Sanders and his Colorado team, who blew a big halftime lead in a loss to Stanford.

Saturday night wasn’t much better, as Sanders and the Buffaloes were mocked on “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update, where Kenan Thompson portrayed the head coach, renowned for his confidence, regardless of the circumstances.

Playing off the fact that Colorado, with a 29-point lead at halftime, ended up losing after Stanford scored on eight consecutive possessions, Thompson’s version of Sanders said, “Wasn’t that crazy? We were up 29-0 at the half, so I went home and fell asleep. I woke up this morning as shocked as anyone.”

Sanders is in his first year at Colorado after three seasons at Jackson State, another topic touched on by “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost.

“God called me to Jackson State,” Thompson’s Sanders said, adding of his move to Colorado, “God called me again and was like ‘My bad.’”

The segment also included a clip from Sanders’ appearance as a musical guest in 1995.

Sanders’ fortunes at Colorado have taken quite a hit following a 3-0 start that included wins over TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State.

Since then, the Buffaloes have lost three of four and the double-overtime defeat to Stanford was their first to an unranked opponent, as they fell to 4-3.

“This is a little tough for me, and I’m trying my best, and I thank you all for your patience,” Sanders said after the game. “And I thank you all for your heart because this is really tough for me.”

Sanders added he’d been “truly upset” and “truly disturbed” by his team’s complacency after it took the huge lead at the half.
