An emotional Tuesday night for the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal, who waved goodbye to the Madrid crowd possibly for the last time. However, the dream continues, and Nadal still hopes to play for the rest of the season.

He has recently started gaining some momentum in the sport since his injury. At the Madrid Open, the Spaniard got into his groove, beating the young ATP stars.

Unfortunately, he lost to Jiri Lehecka in straight sets. Though it was a straight-set victory, Nadal had put up a fight in both sets, taking the match to the end.

Unfortunately, it was not his day, and the 5-time Madrid Open winner had to walk off the court, maybe for the last time. The Madrid Open organizers did not let their star player leave empty-handed. With a proper tribute video and a souvenir, they celebrated Rafa’s career in the tournament.

I don't know how long (smiling), but I’m gonna try to play in Rome. That's another very special tournament in my career, no? I think, I don't know, I won 10? Yeah, 10. So, yeah, a lot of emotions there too. My dream is to play all these tournaments that I had success one more time, no? I missed Monte-Carlo unfortunately, that is one of the most special for me, but Rome is one of these ones that I enjoyed a lot playing there.

However, it is not the end for Nadal, who is hopeful about playing in Rome. In the post-match interview, the Spaniard was asked about his future.

Despite being hopeful and somewhat optimistic, the 37-year-old has a few plans of his own. However, it seems like the French Open is not in his mind as of now, as once again, the 37-year-old did not mention the biggest clay court tournament.

In a recent press conference, he revealed that his career continues and that he looks to achieve some goals in the next few weeks.

But my career keeps going, and I have my personal goals that I have got in the next couple of weeks, and I want to explore if I have any chance to achieve them.

He is now hopeful about playing in Rome, the Italian Masters. As a 10-time champion there, Nadal has plans to make it to another one of his favorite tournaments. Fans are also extremely excited for the Spaniard, who has a high chance of being placed against Novak Djokovic in the draw.
