Tesla recently announced plans to lay off over 10 percent of its global workforce, totaling about 14,000 employees, due to a significant decline in electric vehicle sales worldwide.
Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of the Cybertruck due to its heavy weight, large width, and inflexible steel exoskeleton, which result in reduced crumple zones.
Launched as a concept vehicle in 2019 with much fanfare by Elon Musk, the Cybertruck was touted for its hardened sides claimed to be bulletproof. However, during a demonstration, Musk’s claim that the windows could withstand a large metal ball bearing was proven false when the glass shattered upon impact.
Originally slated for release in 2021, the first Cybertruck models were not delivered until late 2023, deviating from the company’s initial timeline.
Following reports of accelerator pedal issues, leading to vehicles accelerating to top speeds within seconds due to the cover slipping off, a mass recall of Cybertrucks in the US was initiated.
Elon Musk emphasized during an X interview that no injuries or accidents had occurred as a result of this issue, stating that the company was taking a cautious approach.
However, he did not provide clarity on when Cybertruck deliveries would resume. Many customers were informed that delivery could resume in “two weeks at best,” while others received no updates at all.
