L2M report says NBA accepts officiating mistakes in game 2
The NBA’s L2M report recognized mistakes made by the officials in the Knicks’ narrow victory over the 76ers in game 2. All eyes were on Philadelphia’s inbounds play as the Knicks’ three-pointer narrowed the lead to just two points with 27.4 seconds left.
According to the L2M report, it was noted that Knicks’ guard Jalen Brunson may have impeded Maxey’s ability to receive the pass by tugging on his jersey during the inbounds play. In addition to that, according to the report, there was a missed foul call on Sixers’ Josh Hart shortly after, as he stepped forward and initiated lower body contact, resulting in Maxey losing his balance.
It’s worth noting that according to the L2M report, Maxey’s slight hand contact on Hart right before the inbound pass was correctly determined to be a no-call. During this sequence, Sixers’ coach Nick Nurse tried to call a timeout, but the officials did not recognize or grant it, according to the report.
The L2M report identified these two missed calls on the inbound play but found no other officiating errors for the remainder of the game.
