BREAKING: Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Champion Arrested On Disturbing Charges

Under the Helmet: Bashaud Breeland

Current and former players for the Kansas City Chiefs are not having the best off-season.

Former NFL cornerback and Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner Bashaud Breeland was arrested in Charlotte for the second time in less than a year.

The 31-year-old allegedly assaulted Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers on Saturday after they found drugs during a drug call.

The Charlotte Observer said that among the narcotics discovered were five vials of promethazine hydrochloride, a sedative used to treat motion sickness, numerous containers containing what seemed to be marijuana, and dihydrocodeine bitartrate, an opioid pain medication.

This is the former Chiefs cornerback’s second arrest in Charlotte, the first coming back in August 2023 on charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and multiple drug-related charges. When he was arrested then, a police report revealed he was in possession of a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV and numerous guns, including two AR-15s and two AK-47s.

During a traffic stop along North Graham Street, police seized the car and its weapons in addition to almost five pounds of marijuana, 62 grams of suspected mushrooms, and narcotics paraphernalia.

As for his current arrest, the former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back and Super Bowl Champion is facing charges of:

Assaulting a government official
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule V controlled substance
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana
Injury to personal property
Resisting arrest

Former Chiefs Star Bashaud Breeland’s Career Is Likely Over

An eight-year NFL veteran, Bashaud Breeland, was a fourth-round pick by the then-Washington Redskins in 2014 and left for the Packers in 2018. He played two seasons with the Chiefs, making an interception in a Super Bowl 2020-winning effort.

The South Carolina native last appeared in the NFL in 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings. He had 345 solo tackles, 94 assists, 1.0 sacks, six fumble recoveries, and 16 interceptions in his career.

If he had hopes of getting back into the league, it would likely be done after his slew of run-ins with the law.
