The duo has settled the battle for an undisclosed sum, confirmed attorneys of Britney Spears & Jamie Spears
The controversial legal battle between Britney Spears and her father over conservatorship has film settled by the pop star.
“It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears. Ms. Spears is and always will be an icon and a brilliant and brave artist of historic and epic proportion,” stated Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s lawyer to Page Six on Friday.
The duo has settled the battle for an undisclosed sum, confirmed attorneys of both parties to People. “Although the conservatorship was terminated in November, 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter… Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored,” Britney’s attorney, Mathew S Rosengart, said in a statement.
“I cannot comment on any specifics as the settlement is confidential. Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much and everything he has ever done has been to protect and support her… It is unfortunate that some irresponsible people in Britney’s life chose to drag this on for as long as it has,” Jamie’s attorney, Alex Weingarten told People.
In September 2021, James Spears filed his petition to terminate the conservatorship in Los Angeles Superior Court.
“As Mr Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter,” the document says. “If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
