Charlie Puth subtly responded to Taylor Swift dropping his name in her record-breaking album, The Tortured Poets Department, which officially dropped last month on April 19.

The We Don’t Talk Anymore singer, 32, was mentioned in the Grammy winner’s second track on the LP which is also titled: The Tortured Poets Department.

Some of the lyrcis included, ‘You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate/We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist/I scratch your head, you fall asleep.’

In a video shared to both his TikTok and Instagram page on Friday, Puth could be seen standing inside a room as he shared a snippet of his upcoming single, Hero.

Text also appeared towards the top of the reel which read, ‘These last couple weeks have been really crazy for obvious reasons, but I wanted to share something with you.’

The text transitioned to, ‘This is a song I wrote about my friend called “Hero.” Sometimes I get a little nervous being overly honest in my music which is why this was sitting on my hard drive for awhile.’

He then added, ‘But I think someone out there was giving me a sign that I needed to release it,’ seemingly referencing to Swift.

‘So, I declare “Hero” will be out everywhere on May 24th as the first single of my new album,’ Charlie concluded. ‘Thank you for your support…you know who you are.’

Throughout the course of the clip, the performer gave a quick sneak peak of the upcoming singe to his fans and followers.

Shortly after the post was shared, social media users jumped to the comment section on Instagram to share their excitement over the subtle reaction.

One wrote, ‘We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger Artist,’ referencing to Taylor’s lyrics in TTPD.

Another typed, ‘What happened? Is he talking about Taylor’s song?’ while a fan added, ‘THE YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE USE… oh he’s a swiftie swiftie fr.’

A follower excitedly penned, ‘Mother declared it ‘Charlie puth should be a bigger artist!!!’ while another wrote, ‘we did in fact declare charlie puth should be a bigger artist.’

Earlier this week, Charlie also gave a subtle reaction to Swift’s TTPD album when he shared Taylor’s post as she celebrated the LP selling a whopping 2.61 million equivalent units in the U.S., per Entertainment Tonight. 

Her post had read, ‘My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album.’

‘2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.’

‘I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough,’ the Grammy winner concluded, referencing to when her Eras Tour commences.

As she prepares to kick off her Eras Tour dates once again on May 9 in France, Swift has been enjoying a break by spending time with boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Over the past weekend on Saturday, the couple notably attended Patrick Mahomes’ charity event. In a post uploaded by Mahomes, Taylor was seen sweetly holding hands with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end during the festivities.

She stunned in a shimmering, dark gold gown and allowed her blonde locks to flow down past her shoulders in elegant waves.

During Wednesday’s episode of his New Heights podcast, the NFL player talked about the special night and said he had an ‘absolute blast,’ per Page Six. 

‘It was just an absolute fun group. Sure enough, we…made a good contribution to some kids.’

Both Taylor and Travis are also reportedly headed to the Miami Grand Prix this weekend – and will possibly be joined by Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, according to The U.S. Sun. 

A source told the outlet, ‘Travis sees that Taylor is falling in love with sports, and he is excited to take her there, as she also wants to know more and more about his passions, and spend time with Brittany and Patrick, who are very good friends too.’

Last month in April, it was reported that the Bad Blood hitmaker and the professional football player would not be attending the MET Gala later this month on May 6 in NYC.

Both Taylor and Travis are also reportedly headed to the Miami Grand Prix this weekend – and will possibly be joined by Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, according to The U.S. Sun; seen in April at Coachella

And the real reason why the pair will not be attending was revealed to be Swift’s conflicting dates for the Eras Tour which kicks off just three days later.

The star-studded festivities annually take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the heart of the Big Apple on the first Monday in May.

This year, the hosts for the event include Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and also Bad Bunny, per Vogue.

The MET Gala will celebrate the new exhibition called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion with the dress code being The Garden of Time.
