Recently, a rumor began spreading on X and other social media platforms that Megan Thee Stallion has been cast as Boa Hancock in Netflix’s One Piece live-action. However, it is a false rumor which is nothing but misleading.
Netflix has never confirmed about Boa Hancock’s actor. Given that Megan Thee Stallion is mainly a rapper with very little acting experience, it is a bit of a stretch to say that she would be cast in the live-action.
In fact, Netflix casting anyone for Boa Hancock is improbable at the moment. Season 1 of the One Piece live-action covered the East Blue Saga, and season 2 has already been confirmed to adapt the Arabasta Saga. Boa Hancock only debuts in the Summit War Saga. Between Arabasta and Summit War, there are three sagas that need to be covered: Sky Island, Water 7, and Thriller Bark Sagas.
It is impossible for Netflix to skip such important arcs and directly cast Boa Hancock, who only appears in episode 409 of One Piece. So far, the cast members have been chosen very realistically, and casting Megan Thee Stallion as Boa Hancock would cause a major uproar in the fandom.

The rumors surrounding Megan Thee Stallion being cast in One Piece are rooted in a cosplay that the rapper recently revealed. On her Instagram account, Stallion posted pictures of her album titled BOA. In each post, the rapper cosplayed Boa Hancock, the famous character from One Piece. The images were edited to look like covers of vintage PlayStation video games.
While the rapper has taken a few liberties with the dress’ design, she did not forget to include the iconic middle parting with sweeping side bangs and big earrings. Not to mention that she is the perfect person to portray the voluminous character. Her posts contained a cheeky message:
“Are you ready to play?”
It is no secret that Megan Thee Stallion is a huge otaku because she cosplays anime characters every chance she gets. The Savage rapper was a presenter for the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. She had also donned a stunning Satoru Gojo cosplay prior to the event.
Some of her other cosplays include Jolyne Cujoh from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures: Stone Ocean, Death the Kid from Soul Eater, Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia, and many more.

She does the cosplays purely out of her love for anime and not because she has been cast in them. Nonetheless, the otaku community owes a huge thanks to her for spreading this unique Japanese art form.
