“He owed us this one!” Cowboys fanatic Skip Bayless frustrated with Jerry Jones not making a move for Derrick Henry in free agency

The Cowboys released Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans.

When the Dallas Cowboys decided to trade Tony Pollard, one of the most successful players on their roster, a lot of people thought it was high time for Jerry Jones and his team to go for Derrick Henry, whose departure from the Tennessee Titans team was announced last season. Henry was a free agent and with high numbers behind his name, he could have easily been a part of the Cowboys.

As per reports, the Cowboys also had preliminary interest in the RB. Though he was aging (30), Henry’s stats were enough to advocate for his place in the Cowboys team. However, things did not go as per ‘preliminary interests’ and it was the Baltimore Ravens who signed Derrick Henry for a deal worth $16 million. Henry later proclaimed that the Cowboys did not even give a call to him.

And now the trade has made veteran analyst and self-proclaimed ‘No. 1 Cowboys fan’ Skip Bayless angry. He claimed that Jerry Jones was causing all the trouble for the running back. In addition, Bayless said that the team was suffering due to the lack of will of the veteran owner.

In the latest episode of Undisputed, Bayless launched a verbal attack on Jones.

I hate to relive this. We were down 27 against nothing in our home playoff game against the youngest team in the NFL and we were 7.5 points favorites. Jerry for once owed us this move. It is not even a plunge. If you told me, someone had given $50 million guaranteed, I would have said 'ok you got me.' There is no way we can get him by $50 million. But they had given him $9 million guaranteed--that blows my guts out.

Bayless taking a jibe at Jerry Jones

There’s some truth to Bayless’ rant. Jones and the Cowboys’ silence in the free agency doesn’t do a favor to their cause either.

The Cowboys are in the hunt for a new running back

As the Cowboys have now released Tony Pollard, speculations are high that they might go for a new running back. After Derrick Henry’s deal was missed, there were possibilities that the team might go for A.J. Dillion. However, that deal also failed and Dillion signed with the Green Bay Packers.

In this context, a few names are popping up. Sources suggest the team might go for the Texas Longhorns rookie Jonathan Brooks in the upcoming draft. However, replacing a five-season veteran like Pollard won’t be that easy of a job for Jerry Jones and Co. Add to that, this free agency has not gone well for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have failed a lot of times in the playoffs. The choking has become their reality. It is to be seen who they sign to get over the playoff curse of nearly three decades.
