Prince Harry revealed the moment ‘something shifted inside’ him and his relationship with Prince William changed forever. The duo’s relationship is thought to be at an all-time low
Prince Harry took a swipe at his brother’s “alarming baldness”
Prince Harry has revealed the moment his relationship with Prince William changed forever.
The once-inseparable brothers now barely speak at all and their relationship is thought to be at an all-time low – with no sign of reconciliation on the cards. Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, and things have only gone from bad to worse since then.
The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex revealed the moment William became his “arch nemesis”, which happened at their late grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral. In his bombshell memoir Spare, Harry described the tense reunion between the siblings, which took place mere weeks after the Sussexes’ tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. Recalling how their father King Charles had begged them to stop arguing, Harry wrote that “something shifted inside” him as he looked at his brother.

Taking a swipe at his brother’s appearance, Harry wrote: “I took it all in: his familiar scowl, which had always been his default in dealings with me; his alarming baldness, more advanced than my own; his famous resemblance to Mummy, which was fading with time. With age.”
Speaking about realising how different he was from his brother, Harry added: “In some ways he was my mirror, in some ways he was my opposite. My beloved brother, my arch nemesis, how had that happened?”
Harry painted a painfully honest behind-the-scenes picture about life behind Palace walls
Harry and William are yet to patch things up, with a reconciliation looking more and more unlikely as time passes by. The year after Philip’s funeral, Harry and Meghan released their tell-all Netflix docu-series in which they painted life behind the Palace walls in a very unflattering light. The release of the Duke’s painfully honest autobiography in January last year only added fuel to the fire, with Harry giving details about private arguments and conversations.
Things have been rough between the brothers since Harry stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020
Royal expert Tom Quinn has claimed that the Sussexes have realised the detrimental impact their rift with the Royal Family is having on their kids – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – and are hoping to make amends for their sake. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Quinn said: “We know that Harry’s deepest upset concerns not just his lack of relationship with George, Charlotte and Louis, but also his own children’s lack of a relationship with their cousins.”
He added: “Harry and Meghan would love to get round the problem – they would love it if the cousins could meet regularly and have a positive relationship as they grow up, but they cannot see a way to do it while they themselves, Harry and Meghan, are estranged. Harry has said that he hopes the cousins can at least be friends as adults.”
