Rafael Nadal continues to stand tall as one of the premier tennis players of his generation, if not the very best. Despite facing numerous setbacks throughout his career, he has consistently showcased remarkable character and determination on the court. In line with his resilient spirit, the Spanish legend has reaffirmed his commitment to competing at the Paris Olympics, emphasizing his intent to continue playing beyond that event, rather than retiring there.

Nadal has made this year an unforgettable final tour of his career. The 37-year-old returned to the court in January after 11 months away in Brisbane. Despite exiting in the quarterfinals of the tournament, it was the beginning of his last script in tennis. However, he suffered a muscle injury that forced him to withdraw from the Australian Open.

He was included to participate in the Indian Wells Masters, but later withdrew due to unreadiness. Also, he withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters, the first clay Masters tournament of the year, which fans were surprised to hear.

However, he shockingly stormed back onto the court at the Barcelona Open with a first-round fine win. Though he exited in the second round, the Madrid Open was a better tournament for the 22-time Grand Slam winner.

In Madrid, he won three matches but later lost to Czech youngster Jiri Lehecka in the Round of 16. A memorable night that left many of the Spanish crowd in tears. He will be heading to the Italian Open in Rome, which begins on May 6, but has his eyes set on the Paris Summer Olympics in July.

He revealed to Movistar that he would love to play at the Olympics, but it would not be the last tournament of his final tour.

My dream would be to play in the Olympics once again. I have never said that my career would end in Paris.

Rafael Nadal said

Nadal is a two-time gold medalist (one at the singles, and one at the doubles event) at the Olympics. Another medal would be a memorable feat for the 37-year-old legend.

Rafael Nadal yet to know which tournament will be his last

Rafael Nadal has admitted that he doesn’t know which tournament will be his last. The Spaniard had already announced that this season might be his final tour, but is yet to reveal his last tournament. He has now played two consecutive tournaments, in Barcelona and Madrid, and is aiming for the third in Rome next week.

So I don’t know when is going to be my last match but I don’t want to become too emotional because I want to keep going for a while and just trying to keep focus on my path.

The Rome Open begins on the 6th of May and will run through to the 19th. Nadal is the record winner in Rome, with ten titles to his name. He won his last title in Rome in 2021, winning against his eternal rival Novak Djokovic 7–5, 1–6, 6–3.
