Due to its nature as a swashbuckling adventure, swords are one of the most common weapons in OnePiece. Due to the sheer number of blades in the anime, it is difficult to find out the difference between them. However, there is one easy way to figure out the discrepancy between strong swords and weak ones.
One Piece features special weapons called Meito or Named Swords, which are crafted by talented swordsmiths. Named Swords have different grades, with Saijo O Wazamono being the highest, and Wazamono the lowest. But among these powerful weapons, just which ones are the strongest — and who wields them?
Updated May 6th, 2024, by Suzail Ahmad: The strongest One Piece characters always look for ways to improve. Some of them search for new Devil Fruits, while others work on their Haki. There are a select few individuals who decide to use weapons to enhance their odds of winning a fight.
Naturally, they use the best weapons, as they give them the strength necessary to pierce the defenses of their enemies. These weapons, mainly swords, are graded into different classes. As the grade increases, so does the power. The list has been updated to include the current users of the strongest swords in One Piece.
1. Napoleon
Debut: Episode 571
Grade: Unknown
Napoleon was a homie created by Big Mom. He was special because Big Mom had used part of her own soul to create him. For the majority of the time, Napoleon remained in his hat form, only transforming when needed. Unlike a regular sword, Napoleon does not have a fixed shape. He has the ability to change into different types of swords.
Depending on Big Mom’s needs, he can morph into a cutlass, longsword, or gladius. Some of Big Mom’s strongest attacks required the use of Napoleon, which shows his strength as a weapon. Napoleon does not have a grade, but there is no denying that he is a powerful blade.
Current User: Napoleon was created by Big Mom, so he is extremely loyal to her. Naturally, he would never serve another master. After the fall of Big Mom in Wano, it is highly unlikely that fans will see Napoleon again.
Napoleon is ranked lowest as he is not an ordinary weapon.
2. Shirauo
Debut: Episode 786
Grade: Unknown
Shirauo is a nodachi wielded by Amande of the Big Mom Pirates. The sword is much bigger than normal blades and its sheer size is enough to frighten opponents.
As a Meito, Shirauo has superior cutting power to other swords. Amande was able to use Shirauo to cut through Kingbaum’s dense and rigid body. The most astounding thing is that Amande didn’t even have to use any speed. Amande can alter her style depending on her opponent. Since the sword does not offer any special abilities, it ranks rather low on the list.
Current User: Shirauo’s size alone makes it dangerous, so Amande’s skill only adds to it. Many fans would have wanted to see Shirauo and Amande in action, but at the moment, it seems highly unlikely.
3. Soto Muso
Debut: Episode 948
Grade: Unknown
Soto Muso is Kawamatsu’s sword. It has been with the Kappa ever since his childhood. He purchased the sword with the money that Yasuie gave him. With time, Kawamatsu grew fond of the sword and used it to develop his Kappa Style.

One Piece: 24 Characters With The Saddest Backstories
There are quite a few tragic characters in the world of One Piece. These individuals possess some pretty sad backstories.
Soto Muso was created in Wano, which means its build quality is much higher than other swords. Kawamatsu used it to take multiple members of the Beasts Pirates and the sword showed no signs of damage. He also used Soro Muso to damage Kaido, but he could not cause any significant injury to the Yonko.
Current User: Soto Muso and Kawamatsu have been together for many years. Due to this reason, Kawamatsu is probably very attached to the sword as it holds a lot of sentimental value.
4. Fujitora’s Sword
Debut: Episode 630
Grade: Unknown
Fujitora is a Marine Admiral, who was selected during the World Military Draft. He was introduced in the Dressrosa arc, where he clashed against the Straw Hat Pirates and Sabo. Fujitora possesses the Zushi Zushi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. It allows him to control the power of gravity, making him a dangerous opponent.
Fujitora also carries a sword and often uses it with his Devil Fruit. The grade of his sword remains unknown, but considering the fact that he is an Admiral, it would make sense for him to have Meito in his possession. Oda may reveal the name and grade of Fujitora’s sword in the future.
Current User: Fujitora hasn’t had too many opportunities to use his sword in battle. In Dressrosa, he was holding back because of various reasons. However, this might change in the Final Saga.
5. Kikoku
Debut: Episode 392
Grade: Unknown
Kikoku is the sword of Trafalgar Law, who is one of the most notable members of the Worst Generation. It is a cursed sword, but its grade is unknown. It is unclear when Law acquired the sword, but it was sometime before he made his debut in the series. Law is not a typical swordsman who solely relies on his sword skills to fight; instead, he incorporates his devil fruit with it.
On many occasions, Law has used Kikoku to slice his opponents, but only when they are inside a ROOM. Law used Kikoku with his devil fruit awakening to defeat Big Mom, which also resulted in the creation of a giant crater. There is a chance that Law will unlock even more abilities of his Ope Ope no Mi, which he can use in conjunction with Kikoku.
Current User: Trafalgar Law is often overlooked in debates about the most powerful One Piece swordsmen. But, he has proven many times that he can take down the strongest opponents without too many problems.
6. Kashu
Debut: Episode 79
Grade: Ryo Wazamono
Kashu is one of the 50 Ryo Wazamono grade swords. Originally, the sword belonged to Mr. 11 from the Baroque Works, but after his loss to Tashigi, the Marine claimed the sword for herself. The sword has not been used in many fights, so it is difficult to gauge its power.
Considering its status as a Ryo Wazamono sword, it is certainly one of the better swords in OnePiece. One might think that Tashigi will use this sword in the future, but given her lack of screen time, it looks highly unlikely to happen.
Current User: Tashigi is a skilled fighter, which is why she is highly respected within the organization. With things heating up in the Final Saga, fans may get an opportunity to see Tashigi and Kashu in action.
7. Yubashiri
Debut: Episode 49
Grade: Ryo Wazamono
Yubashiri was wielded by Roronoa Zoro. It was a Ryo Wazamono sword that was given to the Straw Hat by Ipponmatsu. Seeing Zoro’s determination to challenge the curse of Sandai Kitetsu, Ipponmatsu decided to give away Yubashiri.
Zoro kept the sword for a long time, and he regularly used it with his other two swords. Yubashiri was a solid weapon, and Zoro continued to wield it in battle until he faced Shu at Enies Lobby. Zoro was unaware of Shu’s devil fruit ability, which gave the Marine an opportunity to touch the sword. Shu’s Sabi Sabi no Mi made light work of Yubashiri, making it unusable. Zoro finally gave up the sword on Thriller Bark.
Current User: After Shu touched the sword, it was no longer fit to be used in fights. Zoro had to discard the sword when he reached the ship of Gecko Moria.
8. Sandai Kitetsu
Debut: Episode 49
Grade: Ryo Wazamono
Sandai Kitetsu is a Ryo Wazamono blade created by Kozuki Sukiyaki. Considering Sukiyaki’s skills, it is quite surprising that Sandai Kitetsu isn’t higher on the grade scale. Zoro found the sword in Ipponmatsu’s shop in Loguetown. The shopkeeper tried to warn Zoro that Sandai Kitetsu is a cursed sword, so it is not possible for everyone to use it in battle.
So, Zoro decided to test his luck. Unsurprisingly, Zoro’s strong will and luck overcame the sword’s curse, allowing him to use it without any kind of problem. He used Sandai Kitetsu to injure Hody Jones underwater, which is a reflection of Zoro’s swordsmanship as well as the sword’s quality. After learning to use Busoshoku Haki, it is possible that Sandai Kitetsu’s grade might increase.
Current User: Zoro is getting closer to his dream of becoming the best swordsman in the world. After receiving Enma in Wano, it is highly unlikely that Zoro is going to obtain another new sword. So, he will be using Sandai Kitetsu till the very end.
9. Pretzel
Debut: Episode 796
Grade: Unknown
Pretzel is a Named Sword wielded by Charlotte Cracker of the Big Mom Pirates. Cracker made his introduction into the anime during the Whole Cake Island arc, when he clashed against protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.
Cracker is a very talented swordsman, as he was able to wield a huge sword-like Pretzel without any effort. After combining his Busoshoku Haki with Pretzel, Cracker was able to hurt Luffy, who was using Gear Fourth. Pretzel’s grade is unknown, but it is very likely that it is an O-Wazamono sword.
Current User: Charlotte Cracker had great control over his Haki and his sword. But he primarily used his Bisu Bisu no Mi while fighting enemies as it gave him added protection.
10. Durandal
Debut: Episode 633
Grade: Unknown
Owned by Cavendish of the White Horse, Durandal is a rapier, and it is made up of a highly flexible iron. The unique iron of the sword allows Cavendish to deflect and counter many powerful attacks as the sword will not break as easily.
Cavendish was able to use Durandal to counter one of Don Chinjao’s attacks without facing many problems. While in his Hakuba form, Cavendish was able to launch quick attacks which were able to knock out almost every fighter competing in his block.
Current User: Cavendish has been away from the spotlight for a long time. So, it is difficult to guess whether he has become stronger or not.
11. Oto
Debut: Episode 0
Grade: Unknown
One of Shiki’s swords, Oto is a Named Sword of an unknown grade. The sword was used by Shiki in many ferocious battles, which included fights against Gol D. Roger, Sengoku, and Monkey D. Garp.
While fighting Garp and Sengoku, Shiki was able to kill many normal Marines with these swords, and he very likely managed to wound Garp.
Current User: Shiki’s current whereabouts are a mystery. While he is a canon character, it doesn’t seem that Oda has any plans to introduce him in the story.
12. Raiu
Debut: Episode 444
Grade: Unknown
Raiu is a nodachi that is wielded by Shiryu, one of the members of the Blackbeard Pirates. It is a Named Sword with a fairly simple design. Shiryu has killed countless people with this sword.
The sword’s grade is unknown, but it is possible that it could be one of the 21 O-Wazamono swords. Raiu’s true power remains a mystery, but that will change towards the end of the series.
Current User: Raiu is currently used by Shiryu, one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. Shiryu has considerable skill with the sword; otherwise, he wouldn’t have held such a high position in Impel Down.
13. Kogarashi
Debut: Episode 0
Grade: Unknown
Kogarashi is wielded by the legendary pirate, Shiki the Golden Lion. Shiki has numerous feats to his name. He is the first prisoner to escape from Impel Down. Shiki also managed to destroy a large part of Marineford on his own.
After chopping off his legs, Shiki used Oto and Kogarashi as his legs. The grade of the sword is unknown, but it is highly possible that it is a Ryo-Wazamono or a higher grade.
Current User: Shiki’s lack of screen time makes it difficult to gauge whether the pirate still has the same level of skill as he did in the past.
