Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been “sucking up to Hollywood royalty” albeit unsuccessfully, according to a royal commentator.
Richard Eden drew comparisons between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s attempts to woo new celebrity friendship and Prince William’s easy relationship with big names such as American pop star Taylor Swift.
Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, Mr Eden said: “It’s a very different relationship because, essentially, Taylor Swift is here and she wants to show her respect for the Royal Family.
In a way, you could say [she is] paying court to Prince William whereas with Harry and Meghan, it’s the other way round. They’re the ones who seem to be always sucking up to Hollywood royalty.
They thought when they moved to California, ‘we’ll be at the centre of this sort of royal court and everyone will come to see us.’ But it never seems to be working out like that.”

Prince William has banned Prince Harry from a royal return “in any way, shape or form”, claimed an inside source.
It has been reported that William has taken on the role of being the disciplinarian – a role within the family that used to be held by the late Prince Philip.
As part of the claims, which were made in response to a new YouGov poll about the most popular male royal, William has been described as the one who rules the family “with a rod iron”.
As the Daily Beast reported, a source said: “There is a sense that William has stepped into the Prince Philip role. Philip ruled the family with a rod of iron…
“Now William is calling the shots when it comes to family discipline… He can be scary!”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be facing a “big problem” if they chose to return to the UK as working royals, a royal commentator has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen their popularity in the UK and the US continuously plummet ever since they quit the Royal Family and moved to the US in 2020. A recent poll by YouGov, published last month, saw them emerge as the least popular royal couple.
Of the two, Meghan Markle is viewed slightly less favourably than her husband, with 22 percent holding a positive view of her compared to 29 percent of Harry.
Now a royal commentator has claimed that even if the Sussex couple were able to resolve their ongoing feud with the royals, King Charles’s hands would be “tied” as making them working royals again would crash with the public’s unfavourable view of them.
