Christy Turlington is, unfortunately, dealing with some ruthless young kids who are using her career to bring down her child.
The 55-year-old supermodel told a story in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar about being at one of her son Finn’s high school basketball games and being horrified to see that the opposing side was using her naked pictures as a form of intimidation.
“I was surprised it hadn’t happened sooner,” Turlington told the outlet. “But at the same time, I was like, ‘This is so rude!’”
According to Christy Turlington, the incident became a “bigger thing” once the school’s administration got involved.
She’s not embarrassed, as Turlington didn’t want them used to taunt her son and his teammates.
“All I wanted to do was disappear,” Turlington, who has spoken extensively about removing herself from the limelight, confessed. “I don’t feel embarrassed about anything. Regretting things is a waste of time.”
Christy Turlington is mom to daughter Grace, who is 20, and son Finn, whom she shares with husband Ed Burns.
Along with Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford, Turlington was one of the most well-known supermodels of the 1990s. At the age of 26, she decided to give up modeling to concentrate on her studies at New York University. Modeling remained a job even after it was less of a priority when she completed her undergraduate degree. Turlington received her master’s degree from Columbia University when she was 39.
Just last year, she laughed during an interview when asked if her kids were aware of her modeling past.
“When they were both little, I didn’t really model very much,” she explained. “I still don’t. It’s pretty rare when I do. But my daughter, she knew I went to school, which she thought was hilarious because she would do homework and I would do homework. The fact that I could talk about ‘I have a test tomorrow’… she really liked that.”
Christy Turlington then relived a moment that turned into a “funny night” when her daughter saw her in full glam.
“I don’t really wear makeup,” she told Glamour. “My daughter looked at me like I had three heads, so I explained, ‘Well, sometimes Mommy sells lipstick.’ A few months later, I was telling somebody about my advocacy, and then she pitches in, ‘And sometimes mommy sells lipstick!’”
Christy Turlington’s daughter, 20-year-old Grace, had followed in her mom’s footsteps as she took her first steps on the catwalk last summer when she walked the British Vogue X LuisaViaRoma show in Florence.
Later on, in 2023, Grace would walk during Milan Fashion Week as she donned a romantic one-shoulder floral-print blush gown and pink heels.
